The Power of Legacy Giving

A legacy gift is a powerful way to ensure the well-being of animals for generations to come. Legacy gifts, also known as planned gifts, can have many benefits.

A bequest in your will can provide tax advantages to your estate while supporting the causes you care about most. Often, a legacy gift allows you to make a more substantial gift than you might be able to make within your lifetime. You can designate a specific amount or a residual portion of your estate by speaking with your financial advisor or attorney to add a gift in your will. You can leave an enduring legacy of compassion for animals by making a planned gift to the Alberta SPCA in the form of stocks or securities, life insurance, or bequests.

To include a gift to the Alberta SPCA in your will, share the following bequest template with your estate planning professional:

“I give to the Alberta Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, charitable registration #122554488RR0001:

(A) the sum of $ ____ to be used in support of its general charitable purposes.” OR (B) “___% of the residue of my estate to be used in support of its general charitable purposes.”

Having an up-to-date will is important as it ensures your wishes are respected, and in the case of legacy giving, that your dreams and aspirations for the community continue beyond your lifetime. It is never too late or too early to set up your will. For more information about including the Alberta SPCA in your will, please reach out to donorrelations@albertaspca.org or call us at 780-732-3736.
