Schmidt was found guilty of one charge under the Animal Protection Act for causing or allowing his dog to be in distress. He was fined $650 and is prohibited for 10 years from owning or caring for any animals other than the two cats currently living in the house, which must both be spayed.
Edward Michel is prohibited for 10 years from owning a combined total of more than five dogs and cats (jointly with Debra Michel). He is also prohibited for 10 years from operating a dog or cat rescue, sanctuary or boarding kennel. Prohibition order is in effect from May 7, 2015, to May 7, 2025.
