The Pet Safekeeping Program offers temporary care for pets whose owners are seeking safety in a shelter.

Other Crisis Situations

The Pet Safekeeping Program also provides reprieve to pet owners dealing with a life-changing event that impedes on their ability to care for their companion animals, such as emergency medical care, and displacement due to a residential fire.

The Pet Safekeeping Program currently operates in all geographical areas in the province of Alberta.
