On March 19, 2025, Cindy Sorokowski pleaded guilty to two offenses under the Animal Protection Act for failing to ensure animals in her care had appropriate food and water 2.1(a), and failing to provide animals with adequate protection from injurious heat or cold 2.1(c).
As part of her sentence, Ms. Sorokowsi is prohibited for a period of 10 years from owning, possessing, boarding, breeding, having care and control of, or living in a residence with any animal with the exception of one horse and one dog in her possession as the time of this order. Ms. Sorokowski must allow the Alberta SPCA access to her residence to review the living conditions of such animals, the condition of the animals, as well as the number of animals on the property. The Alberta SPCA may remove any animals in excess of the approved number in this order, or any animal in distress, without warrant. Ms. Sorokowski also received a $2,500 fine.
