Raising and selling livestock, from cattle to pigs to poultry, remains a major industry in Alberta. Our objective in working with animal industries is to ensure that these animals receive humane treatment throughout their lives. We use every opportunity to promote the responsible and humane care of Alberta’s farm animals.
Each year, approximately half of complaints investigated by Alberta SPCA Peace Officers involved livestock. In many instances, the issues observed were preventable once the owners were made aware of additional feed and care information.
