Youth Zone - Parks Canada
  • Parks Canada has plenty of resources for kids to teach them about many aspects of Canadian National Parks. There are games and activities on a variety of subjects such as how to stay safe around bears to protecting animals in parks across the country.

How to Love your Dog
  • This comprehensive site calls itself a Kid's Guide to Dog Care. It has plenty of information about choosing, caring for and training a dog. Lots of instructional videos, gift guides and teacher resources are included.
RSPCA Interactive
  • This new site from the Royal SPCA in Great Britain has lots of quizzes, drag and drop activities, videos, interactive stories and more. Different sections cover animals' needs, pet care, finding the right home for animals, and other topics - all presented in a colourful and fun manner.
Cats Indoors
  • Cats allowed outdoors face a host of hazards ranging from automobile accidents to poisoning to disease. Domestic cats, even those that are well fed, instinctively hunt birds and are responsible for killing millions of songbirds every day in North America.
Purina Animal Hall of Fame
  • Each year Purina honours those cats and dogs that have proven themselves to be true pet heroes by recognizing them in their Animal Hall of Fame, one of the longest running pet programs in Canada Over its 40 years the Purina Animal Hall of Fame has recognized 114 dogs, 23 cats, and one horse from across the country.   • This site was created by a 12 year who old wanted to help feed the hungry animals at her local animal shelter. It has a free, fun trivia game that earns food for shelter animals every day you play. It's fast, easy, fun and educational! It may even inspire your students to create something similar here in Canada

  • This site from the folks at the Red Bluff Ranch in Colorado is a great site for preschool and elementary students to learn about farm animals. Kid's Farm has section on farm and wild animals, animal sounds, farm equipment and wildlife rehabilitation. Great animals and puzzles make it a fun place to visit.
Horse Fun
  • HorseFun is all about kids and horses. You'll find lots of horsey quizzes, puzzles and games, plus stories and poems, brain teasers and mind benders. There's plenty of information on horse breeds, horse care and hand hints on handling and riding - all in language that kids can understand. They can also test their horse knowledge, sign up for HorseFunFacts, o send in horse stories and poems.

  • Journey North engages students in a global study of wildlife migration and seasonal change. K-12 students share their own field observations with classmates across North America. They track the spring and fall migration patterns of monarch butterflies, robins, hummingbirds, whooping cranes, gray whales, bald eagles and other birds and mammals; the budding of plants; changing sunlight; and other natural events.   • Walk Score helps people find walkable places to live. Walk Score calculates the walkability of an address by locating nearby stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc. Walk Score measures how easy it is to live a car-lite lifestyle—not how pretty the area is for walking.
One Less Tonne
  • The One Less Tonne tool will help you choose actions to meet the challenge contained in Canada’s Climate Change Plan — for each Canadian to cut his or her annual emissions of greenhouse gases by one tonne, or about 20%. With every action you select, the tool will display the emission reductions you'll achieve (and the money you'll save in energy costs!).

  • Sort It Out! Online is an interactive website where you can build a Sort It Out! Buddy, discover lots of information about waste management, and quiz yourself on how much you know. Sort It Out! is designed to tie into the Waste in Our World Grade 4 science Curriculum.   • A new teen -focused website - includes information about bullying and how to make it stop. The site also features inspirational stories from people who have experienced and overcame bullying, with an opportunity for youth to post their own experiences. All of the campaign materials feature the toll-free provincial helpline number.
Green Hour
  • A Green Hour is time for unstructured play and interaction with the natural world. Today's kids spend far less time outside than their parents did. For many of them, tweets are not bird calls but 140-word sound bites. Wii, the electronic game, has replaced "wheee!" -- the squeal of delight.
