Overview

The annual conference for the Alberta animal welfare community invites dedicated members of animal shelters, animal control, humane societies and animal rescue groups to come together, learn from speakers and each other, and spend a few days rejuvenating and networking.

This year's conference will be held at the Hotel Selkirk in historic Fort Edmonton Park. Our theme, Building on Our Legacy of Compassion, signifies the historic significance of the animal welfare movement in Alberta while looking toward an even greater future for animals. As we have exclusive use of the hotel - and will be free to explore the park - this conference presents a unique opportunity to grow as a community.

Special Features:

Evening Reception - to facilitate networking to strengthen the animal welfare community, we will have a reception on Thursday evening. Hors d'oeuvres and a complimentary drink ticket are included with the registration fee.

Tours - we'll have two tours this year: the Whitemud Equine Centre which hosts the Little Bits therapeutic riding program; and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in its new location.

World Café sessions – What’s a World Café? It’s a process that evokes the collective intelligence of small groups, thus increasing our capacity for effective action in pursuit of common aims. Our first world cafés at the 2011 conference were a huge hit, so we doing them again.
